ENG vs IND: Shoaib Bashir ruled out of remainder of the series

England off-spinner Shoaib Bashir has been ruled out of the remaining two Tests of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.

Bashir picked up the injury of the third day of the Lord’s Test after attempting to stop the ball off his own bowling.

Bashir batted in the third innings, adding seven runs with Jofra Archer before being dismissed, and bowled six overs in India’s fourth innings despite not taking to the field for large parts of the final day. Bashir also took the final wicket of the innings to seal England’s 22-run victory, dismissing Mohammed Siraj for 4.

Bashir has played all three Tests in the series thus far. He is England’s third-highest wicket-taker with 10 wickets, although they have come at an expensive average of 54.10.

England will name a replacement for Bashir in the next few days. It goes into the Fourth Test at Manchester with a 2-1 lead after winning the Third Test.
